Loughborough Labour Party Loughborough, Shepshed and the Villages
Meet Jeevun Sandher
I am standing to be our next MP so that we can make sure that every single person in Loughborough, Shepshed, Sileby, Barrow, Quorn, and the Wolds villages does more than just survive. I am standing so we can build a country in which they thrive.
Ours is one of the most important constituencies in the country. Winning here would mean we can get the Labour government this country needs.
We in the Labour Party stand for three things: Prosperity, Public Services, and Patriotism.
We will invest in our prosperity to get our wages up and bills down. We will invest in our future with a Green Prosperity Plan that will create good jobs and lead to higher wages. We will tax oil and gas giants and use the cash to insulate your homes and get your bills down. We will make sure that young people are able to afford to put down roots and start families.
We will restore our public services to make us all healthier, better educated, and safer. We will tax non-doms to double the number of doctor training places and increase the number of nurses, remove the private school tax breaks to invest in state education, and hire 13,000 police officers to keep us all safe.
We will be a patriotic government this country can be proud of. The Conservatives have repeatedly undermined the best traditions of this country. Jane Hunt called for Boris Johnson to return as Prime Minister after he undermined our democracy by lying to this country, appointed a man he knew to be an alleged sexual harassed as his deputy head of HR, and partied when people could not see their dying relatives or go to their funerals. We will be a patriotic government and live up to the best this country has to offer.
That is what we need to build a country to build a country in which everyone thrives. I’ve dedicated my life to achieving that vision.
I became an Economist and gained a PhD so I would know how to ensure that every person could become prosperous. I learnt my trade in the Treasury where I saw that compassion and drive changes little without power.
I then spent two years working to end poverty inside the Somaliland government, one of the poorest and most fragile nations on earth. I gave everything to serve the people of Somaliland, and that’s how you know how I would give everything to serve the people of our constituency.
As a teacher, I taught disadvantaged children to help them get into university. That doubled the chances of those kids getting into good universities. I’ll always fight to ensure that every child can get a great education and live a decent life when they grow up.
As a trade union rep, I’ve fought and won for my members. When my employer threatened my low-paid teaching colleagues with a 33% pay cut during the pandemic, I organised my members and put a stop to it. I’ll always stand up for workers to have a good wage and decent working conditions. It’s why I’m so proud to support Labour’s New Deal for Workers that will give us greater rights and bargaining power.
I’d love to hear from you and the issues you are concerned about. Feel free to contact me at any time on: campaign@jeevunsandher.com or 07444746643.
Kind Regards,
Jeevun Sandher
